Ok... so I'm totally confused. Are those ACTUAL old Superman covers or are they doctored to be funny? I'm guessing doctored, but then, that's a very good job they did if it is.
If I had to do 52 comic books on Superman a year, I'm sure I'd come up with a zany idea or two. But, this is worse - these are not "Superman" ishes - they are books that probably ran at the same time. If I had to do 156 issues a year (Superman, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen) I'm sure I'd go off the deep end. Take into account that the "Lois Lane" book was probably aimed at girls and the "Jimmy Olsen" book was probably intended to be a humor book - well, entire teams of people could go loopy!
One thing I did notice (mainly on ealier DC comics) is that sometimes the cover didn't reflect the contents. I remember the cover from an old Superman/Batman monthly from my brother's collection that showed Superman getting his ass well kicked, someone calling on an rather casual looking Batman to help his friend, and Bats telling him to go to hell. The story was nothing like this. Of course, the Superman is a Dick gallery is nothing compared to the Corruption of the Innocents gallery on the same page. I was in tears laughing at some of them.
