Jericho: Google Doofus
Ever get bored? Happened to me.
So, I went to Google, clicked on Images, typed in the word "doofus" and this is what came back.
Not sure if he's winking or belching. Creepy either way.
Apparently, the word "doof" means something very different in German than it does in English. I don't recommend looking for that in Google Images while at work.

Um, I didn't get anything NSFW when I typed it in.
You can safely surf Google Images if you have "Safe Search" turned on. Just click on the "Preferences" link next to the search blank to set it to None, Moderate or Strict.
Yeah, I assumed my search here was set to Strict by default - it wasn't!
Um, I have it set to not filter my results... still nothing particularly NSFW. ??
Okay, I guess Google changes results with the day. But, when I viewed yesterday, there was at least on picture of a chick with her legs in the air, naked as the day she was born but with way more boobage, I'm sure.
According to Google's translation tool, much like the old Babble Fish, "doof" in German means "stupidly." Of course, if Google's translation tool is based off the old Babble Fish tool, that could be totally correct or totally wrong.
Okay, it's a little easier to play with this at home ...
I went back out to Google and looked up "doof" again, same thing I saw at work. If you look under the search box, it will tell you what level of "SafeSearch" is on. Just now when I looked, I was on "Moderate" but right there on that page was this image - pretty explicit if you ask me - "which is exactly what "moderate" is supposed to filter out: explicit images. The link under this pic leads to a page with a few more choice pics.
Now, I went and changed my settings, turning SafeSearch off entirely. The image doesn't show up - I looked through all 23 pages of the "take" from the search and no "doof" with her legs in the air - no fun pics at all, really.
I think Google might have a screw loose, and are they going to be in troooouble!
Moderation is for monks. Who like doof.
