We're looking to get an equity loan (to put the addition on the house- but dont' tell the company that) and also to lower our rate and get a 30 year fixed. It's a 5 year ARM right now.

No word on how it went yet, though.

Did you and Steph do anything special for your Anniv?

We have cheated massively on our diet! Yea!!!

However, I had to promise I will be good on my two upcoming trips. All of that room service in four star hotels, for free! It's going to be tough.

Other than that, not really. We couldn't afford presents or a big night out. I'm hoping to buy her an additional wedding ring for the big fiver. We'll see how our money pans out.

"Additional"? Like one for the other hand or one to wear on Sundays?

She only has one ring. Most wedding sets have an engagement ring and the wedding band. Well, I talked Steph into buying one ring. It's gourgeous IMHO. It's a cathedral setting with a princess cut stone - The Princess in the Cathedral. It's just an elegant ring. It looks good and she gets showered with compliments.

But, she wants a second ring. I think she wants to be a little more traditional, or she just wants an excuse to buy some diamonds, I dunno. She has been talking about a second band with a bunch of channel set stones, either diamonds, or maybe some emeralds and diamonds, etc.

I think this will be gaudy as all git out. But, my wife is all about the sparklies. So, I promised her for our fifth that we would do something.

I mentioned recently trading up on her stone. I felt bad about only getting a half carat stone - but it was all we could afford. So, the store we bought it from will let you trade up to a larger stone. I have no problem putting another $500 for a .75 or full carat. I want a good quality stone, and I would like to preserve the elegance of that ring. It will take us all year to save up that much, but it would be worth it. She looked like she might go for it, we'll see.

We all have our "Sparklies". Mine are basses. Yours are Macs. Lauras tend to involve household improvement. At least one of our crew gets to upgrade this year.

I hope you don't consider "replace dead power supply" an upgrade?

Umm, no. If I thought that all of us would be upgraded in my POV. I was speaking of your Mrs.'s sparklies.

Oh. That's why I was confused. She will upgrade next calendar year, but less than 365 days from now. Sorry.

Hey, Honey... aren't you glad I'm not into really expensive teeny tiny rocks??

I'm very happy with our matching gold bands. It doesn't get much more traditional. Maybe at our 10th, I'd want to get new bands, but I never want to wear a diamond on my hand again. I cut too many people (especially Max) open with my engagement ring!
