News like this just frightens me. But what can I do to stop it?? No one wants to think that it's really comming to this. I don't know of any orginazations that are even making a dent in stopping this sort of invasion of privacy. And even if there are, I'm willing to bet they are being jailed and/or kept under servailance themselves.

What can we do??

There have always been buttheads who had utter disregard for people's rights. A former Circuit Attorney in STL used the whole "people who aren't breaking the law have nothing to fear" when he decided he wanted the right to tap anybody's phone at any time. (He was eventually busted for using city funds to hire prositutes). The problem is that there seems to be more of them these days. People don't seem realize that it's rather hard to get rights back once they are surrendered.
