Max: Mother Fucker!

ScienceDaily: Elevated Testosterone Kills Nerve Cells

A Yale School of Medicine study shows for the first time that a high level of testosterone, such as that caused by the use of steroids to increase muscle mass or for replacement therapy, can lead to a catastrophic loss of brain cells.

Somehow I don't see you and Jason as muscle-bound guys, and the dosage you two are taking I bet is pretty low. May be worth checking with docs but I think the amounts that they are referring to are specifically for beefing up.

They're talking about elevated levels. I don't know about you, but I was at 120 nanograms per deciliter of blood. My doctor likes to see about 400 ng, other research I've read says 300 ng. Younger males are over 1000 ng.

A normal 30 year old male produces about 10 miligrams of Testosterone a day. I'm currently taking 10 mg. So, if my body absorbed and used all of that, and if that got me to 300 to 400 ng plus what I currently produce, I'd be at 420 to 520 ng. I don't think that qualifies as "elevated."

Now, say we toss in some Enzyte or some testosterone suupplement we bought off the Internet, then we might reach elevated.

If that isn't enough, read this and this.

We can't win. We won't even break even. Medical science is a constant study after study, each one contraticting the last. Add in a journalistic element, and the waters become very muddy.

All I do know is that while on the hormone and dieting, I lost 50 pounds in about three months. I want to go back to that and do even more. I'm back on the diet again and I start back on my hormones this weekend.
