Max: The US Has Officially Gone Batshit Crazy
2 Men Held on Bond in Boston Hoax Case | World Latest | Guardian Unlimited
A judge ordered two men held on bond Thursday for allegedly placing electronic advertising devices around the city in a publicity stunt that went awry and stirred fears of terrorism, shutting down parts of Boston.
Peter Berdovsky, 27, and Sean Stevens, 28, were held on $2,500 cash bond each after they pleaded not guilty to placing a hoax device and disorderly conduct for a device found Wednesday at a subway station.
Officials found 38 blinking electronic signs promoting the Cartoon Network TV show ``Aqua Teen Hunger Force'' on bridges and other high-profile spots across the city Wednesday, prompting the closing of a highway and the deployment of bomb squads. The surreal series is about a talking milkshake, a box of fries and a meatball. The network is a division of Turner Broadcasting Systems Inc.
When we are freaking out over Lightbrite displays and arresting people for terrorism because public officials freaked out over nothing, we are well and truly fucked.

oy. vey.
idiots.
They don't call'em "Massholes" for nuthin'!
I think the local, state and Federal authorities owe the tax payers of Boston and Turner Broadcasting an apology.
First, they are the only city to have a problem with these, and they didn't even have the most. These are some of the most harmless looking devices - no place to put explosives!
Second, these things were up for two weeks before they were declared an "emergency"! Had these been real bombs, this would have been called a failure of civic preparedness of epic proportions. I mean, self lit explosive devices in every corner of the city sitting around for two weeks! That's outragious!
I think someone needs to plant cardboard boxes on every corner in Boston with the words "This is not a bomb" painted on the side and see how the city reacts!
Love this!
I can't believe Turner is doing this! I'd fight it if I were them. This politicians should be horse whipped for being idiots!
If I were them, I would rather spend $10 million fighting it than $2 million knuckling under to idiots.
