This has been coming for a while.

The good new is that it will take up less battery life than an HD.

The bad news is that it might not be as fast as an HD.

But, considering, it's a pretty even trade off.

Getting Flash Drives down in price is going to be such a good thing. Imagine a 100GB iPod with a Flash memory drive. You would have a battery life measured in weeks!

I still want to build a handheld desktop replacement. This goes a long way towards making that possible.

Absolutely. Low power processors, organic LED and advances in batteries combined with this and a few other technologies will kill the desktop and the laptop.

Getting away from large mass storage devices, such as CDs and DVDs will help as well. Thank goodness for thumb drives and SD cards.

Add that one can choose to have one's aps on a sever somewhere, such as with Google Docs, the PC as we know it may soon be extinct.
