Max: Ummm... Wow
Via The BBC
"I put my finger in," Mr Spievak says, pointing towards the propeller of a model airplane, "and that's when I sliced my finger off."
The photos of his severed finger tip are pretty graphic. You can understand why doctors said he'd lost it for good.
Today though, you wouldn't know it. Mr Spievak, who is 69 years old, shows off his finger, and it's all there, tissue, nerves, nail, skin, even his finger print.

Mutant healing factor in a bottle!
Holy Shit!
Lose a lung or a kidney? No prob! We install this biodegradable plastic scaffolding containing the regrowth agent into your body. In a few weeks you've regrown your lost organ. Eat lots of protein!
Anybody seeing a world where a down on his luck bloke gets a job as a professional organ donor? Once a month go in for kidney surgery to remove your new kidney and install the new scaffold and make $10k for doing it.
Sign me up for that job!
Am I missing something here? Did these guys not see the pictures?

I expect skepticism, but I would also expect better observation!
So the prevailing opinion seems to be I can't express myself through writing. Everybody seems to think that everything I write about Hud is an attack, and now an ironic Ummmm... Wow convinces the general public that I bought an unlikely story without any supporting info.
Self absorbed much? :)
I meant these fuck-tard scientists!
I looked at the pictures and video with this story and it's obvious that the scientists they spoke with had NOT done the same. Morons!
No where in the article does it talk about attaching the fingertip - yet one of the scientists based his skepticism on that point!
Apparently, if something isn't published in a peer reviewed journal - some scientists can buy it. Even if they see it with their own eyes!
If there was a superlative form of "self absorbed", I would confess to it.
I am still skeptical. I want this to be true. I hope it is true. But until it is replicated, I am withholding my "w00t".
I hear you. And I admire your restraint.
The photos could be Photoshopped or something else.
The scientist that was talking about the finger re-attachment is the one that gets me. There was no talk of the finger being reattached! Read the materials in front of you!
Of course, I could be misdirecting my frustration. The Media is notoriously bad about pursuing The Story and making a mockery of science, research, evidence, etc. If some reporter called me up and said "Hey, did you hear some yank chopped off his finger and regrew it in some magic powder - got a quote?" and if that's all he said, I'd provide some serious doubt, too!
You have to admit - those pictures are compelling!
One of two things will happen.
Either this will be proven true and at that moment, the world changes. Aging and failing body parts will be easily replaced. We won't be truly immortal, but it will be close enough for rock and roll. I want this to be true, because if the human lifespan suddenly jumps to 1000+ years, then I am still a child and haven't wasted over half of my life.
But, there is an "or" for that "either".
This may turn out to be yet another pie-in-sky-stick-a-knife-in-your-eye bit of stupidity from a reporter that wouldn't know the scientific method it bit him on the ass and proved it. In which case, about all we can expect is for the herb-mongers, vaccine-haters and other assorted freaks to be talking about how the "establishment" is suppressing the powered fountain of youth.
