He has a friend in Missouri. He told the friend that he could fly a plane. The friend, being a Missourian and smart-ass, said, "Show me."
It all kinds got out of control at that point.
Mom said the guy is really from Turkey and got his citizenship in Canada but wanted to kill himself. He stole the plane hoping they would shoot him down, but they didn't.

There are so many easier ways to get yourself killed. But, I think an act this crazy proves he wasn't thinking logically!
