I don't understand anyone who accepts their own death as part of some greater plan. The way I see it, any plan that requires my death by definition has at least one major flaw and I am not dying for such a flawed plan.
There was a time when the flu was an incurable menace that killed large percentages of the population. Today, the average flu is merely an inconvenience, leaving one at home for a few days watching day time television. (The HORROR!) While even the worst flu is controllable and treatable.
On average, we live longer now than ever. Why is it that people cannot grasp the simple concept that death could become an outmoded idea?
If we stopped investing in wars which only make the rich richer and the poor dead and started investing in health care and medical research - we could extend life nearly infinitely.
Then, let's invest in technology that will allow us to explore, colonize and terraform the planets in our solar system so that we have someplace to live ...
